What is search engine optimization?
Search engine optimization is a way of writing and tagging your webpages so they place higher in the search engines while still providing the information your customers are looking for.
For web work, I automatically tag your pages with keywords related to your business and what I think your client base will be looking for, but as a client, there are some things YOU can do, while writing the copy, that will help get your pages a higher ranking.
1. Pick a target phrase that is popular and important to what your business is about and what your market is looking for.
2. Include your target phrase in the headline, subheads, and in the first paragraph of your page. For example, if your target phrase is "spiritual advisor", make sure you write that into the text of your first page, if not the rest, but don't go overboard...you still want to appeal to your customer base!
3. When you are promoting your page on the web, make sure your target phrase is included in the link and any explanatory text.
If we work together, me with the tagging, and you with the writing..your webpage will have a much better shot at getting shown in the first or second page in the search engines.
Angel Hour with Deirdre Abrami...
A few weeks ago, Deirdre had me on as a guest to talk about my business on her radio show "Angel Hour with Deirdre Abrami". It certainly was a new experience for me...She thought I would make a good guest because most of my clients and people who come to me for work are either artists, metaphysical practioners, or alternative health experts. These people are not always sure of how to market themselves or use the web to do so, so we talked about that. Since I have taken a few of Deirdre's workshops...I also got a chance to add my two cents to the readings for the callers. What fun!
